Plymouth is a FREEPORT tax site

The Government is establishing Freeports as national hubs for global trade and investment across the UK, to promote regeneration and job creation, and to create hotbeds for innovation. Eight locations have been chosen so far and Plymouth is one of them.

Freeports benefit from favourable customs and tax rules. Within a freeport, areas can be designated as Freeport tax sites and/or as Freeport customs sites. Employers operating in the Plymouth Freeport tax site will be able to pay 0% employer National Insurance contributions on the salary of any new employee starting on or after 6 April 2022 who works in the Freeport tax site for at least 60% of their working time. This 0% rate will apply for three years per employee on earnings of up to £25,000 per annum.

The idea is to promote the growth of companies and workforces within the Freeport areas.  We can assist with corporate, commercial requirements relevant to the opportunities offered by Freeport areas, including around group restructures and commercial contracts.
