October National Minimum Wage Rates Confirmed

The adult national minimum wage rate is to increase to £6.50 per hour from 1 October 2014.

The Government has accepted the Low Pay Commission’s recommendation of a 3% increase for the adult rate and a 2% increase for the other rates.

The new rates will be as follows:

  • Adult rate increases to £6.50 (up from £6.31);
  • 18-to 20 year old rate increases to £5.13 (up from £5.03);
  • 16-17 year old rate increases to £3.79 (up from £3.72); and
  • Apprentice rate increases £2.73 (up from £2.68).
