Changes to Sick Pay and Maternity Pay Rates Announced

Proposed changes to statutory sick pay, maternity pay and other statutory payments have been announced. 

The prescribed rate for Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP), Statutory Adoption Pay (SAP), Statutory Paternity Pay (SPP) and Statutory Shared Parental Pay (ShPP) will increase to £139.58 (from £138.18). The weekly rate of Statutory Sick Pay will increase to £88.45 (from £87.55).

The lower earnings limit applying to National Insurance contributions, below which employees are not entitled to SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP and ShPP, will increase from £111 to £112 per week.

The changes will apply from 6 April 2015 and are subject to Parliamentary approval.
