Adam is an experienced Legal Director. He advises businesses and individuals throughout the UK on a full range of employment and related issues. Prior to joining Doyle Clayton, Adam worked at another specialist employment law firm.

Adam works with HR teams, in house lawyers and senior management at a wide variety of organisations. These range from FTSE 100 companies through to privately held businesses and a number of overseas companies with operations in the UK. Areas he typically advises on include: defending Employment Tribunal claims, new employee hires and terminations, redundancy projects, changes to terms and conditions, conducting internal investigations, enforcing restrictive covenants, incoming regulatory development such as furlough leave and IR35 as well as the Senior Managers & Certification Regime (“SM&CR”).

Recent work for employers include

  • Advising a subsidiary to a global bank for a number of years on day to day employment matters as well as defending numerous Employment Tribunal claims. These have included claims for disability discrimination, sexual harassment and unfair dismissal
  •  Advising a privately held company defend a union backed worker status group action
  • Acting as part of a team of investigators, investigating allegations at a high-profile company in the tech sector
  • Advising a provider of office space on a large redundancy project and the termination of employment of a number of its senior executives
  • Advising a FTSE 100 company for a number of years on around 10 or so separate Employment Tribunal claims

Work for individual include

Adam provides support to individuals, usually employees, but also to directors, consultants and LLP members. This includes advice on entry into an employment contract, disputes arising during employment such as challenges to bonuses or equal pay, as well as negotiating successful exits.

  • Successfully obtaining an unfair dismissal finding for a former employee of a leading academic institution
  • Negotiating “Good Leaver” status under a Long Term Incentive Plan (“LTIP”) for an employee accused of gross misconduct, which was extremely valuable in the circumstances
  • Advising a departing employee on the terms of his restrictive covenants and the subsequent establishment of his business
  • Obtaining a substantial judgment against a company arising from representations made by an employee of the company, who had acted with the apparent authority of the company
  • Obtaining many six figure settlements for individuals against current/former employers, often without the need to issue litigation
