• Immigration

We provide specialist immigration advice to educational institutions who require a sponsorship licence to allow them to enrol non EU students and/or employ non EU employees. Once the sponsorship licence has been obtained we assist in acquiring either the Tier 4 (General) visa, the Tier 4 (Child) student visa or the Tier 2 visa for the individual. We also assist with visas which allow the parent of a child under 12 years of age entry into the UK. We provide specialist immigration advice on Tier 2 and Tier 5 sponsorship licenses and Tier 4 (Child) student visa requirements and applications to schools and colleges who wish to recruit staff  or enrol students from outside the EEA

Data Protection Services

Piers Leigh-Pollitt, co-author of the Stationery Office publication of “Data Protection Act 1998 Explained”, is our resident expert on data protection matters from an HR and employment viewpoint.  We have developed expertise in advising on a wide range of data protection issues, as follows:

  • Advising on handling data subject access requests, requests for pupil records and requests under the Freedom of Information Act 
  • Liaising with the Information Commissioner’s Office on behalf of clients and defending claims for alleged breaches of the Data Protection Act
  • Providing data protection training for managers and front line staff
  • Reviewing data protection wording in employment contracts and drafting data protection policies and procedures
  • Advising on the full range of data protection issues, including staff monitoring, surveillance, medical and health issues, criminal records and other sensitive personal data
